Colorado is a state located in the western United States. Denver is the capital and the most populous city of Colorado. Colorado state's population was calculated to be approximately 4,665,177 as of 2005 Census. Colorado is also known to be a part of the Mountain, Southwestern and Central areas of the country. Residents of Colorado are known as Coloradans.

Denver is the capital of Colorado (U.S.): located on the south Platte River, east to Rocky mountains. It nurtures the population around 557,728 as estimated in the year 2003. It derives its nickname as “Mile High City” due to its elevation of 5,280 ft above sea level. It was settled in 1858. Denver became the territorial capital of Colorado in 1867. The sophisticated Denver transformed into the center for transportation, industrial and commercial market, it has one of the nation's livestock markets. Now it is the largest center for winter sports, with many ski areas in the vicinity. Denver branch of the U.S. Mint, 1960 has a production of about 50% of U.S. coinage and is the nation's second largest gold depository.
