District of Columbia (DC) is located on the east bank of the Potomac River, federal district of U.S. coextensive with the city of Washington, D.C. District of Columbia was selected by George Washington. It is conjugated by Maryland and Virginia granting land on either side of the river, including the town of Georgetown and the county of Alexandria respectively.
