Washington is a state in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Washington is titled after George Washington, the first President of the United States. It is also called Washington state if there is need to distinguish it from Washington, D.C., the nation's capital. Washington is known for its lumber and defense industries. Olympia is the capital and Seattle the largest city.

SEATTLE Real Estate: The running median price of a single family home in King County (excluding condominiums) rose to 12.8%, increasing from $390,000 a year ago to $440,000 for sales that closed last month. Condo prices jumped 20.8%, climbing from a median sell price of $215,000 twelve months ago to last month's figure of $259,700. Appreciation is still on demand, but pricing is critical as the market now allows buyers time and options prior to making a commitment.
